Mezzanine Floors, and Fire Protection
Mezzanine floors are great to protect fire. These floors are great for preventing fire because of the steelwork which helps to not get heated up quickly in fire. But mezzanine floors do not need to be fire protected all the time. According to the size and the use these floors must be fire rated. The flooring of mezzanine which is less than 10m * 10m in size and occupying the area less than 50% of the building does not need to be fire rated. Usually the places are not permanently occupied and mainly used for storage so fire protection is not needed.
Next the mezzanine floors which are less than 20m * 20m in size and the area occupied by it is less than 50% of the building does not need to be fire rated and the reason is same. If any mezzanine floors which are occupied permanently then whatever be the size of the flooring it needs to be fire protected. The steelwork which is done to mezzanine flooring in the light of making it fire protected can last in fire for more hours. As a result the place takes a little more time to collapse which can help people to save their life and some of their wealth. This is wire fire protection is required.
